Bud's obituary
Bud Boyd, 72, of Whittier, CA, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and children. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon; his children, Jeremy (Christine), David, and Julie (John); his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Dylan, and Asher; and one great-grandchild, Noah. Family was the cornerstone of Bud’s life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Known for his warmth and open heart, he formed lasting friendships with everyone he met.
Born on November 5, 1951, in Whittier to Thomas and Helen Boyd, Bud was a Whittier native through and through. For over 60 years, he was an active member and volunteer at East Whittier Friends Church, where his kindness and compassion made everyone feel welcome. His quick wit and boundless supply of dad jokes and puns were legendary, lighting up every gathering and bringing joy to those around him.
Bud graduated from La Serna High School and California State University, Fullerton. He worked for a variety of Southern California landmarks, including Disneyland, the Bonaventure Hotel, and Knott’s Berry Farm, before joining General Dynamics and then Parsons. In 1993, he started a role at LA Metro, where he worked for 26 years until his retirement in 2019. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling and treasured time spent with family.
As a devoted supporter of his children’s and grandchildren’s lives, Bud was a constant presence at their sporting events, cheering them on with boundless enthusiasm. Being their number one fan was a source of pride for him, and he celebrated each of their achievements wholeheartedly.
Above all, Bud had a strong personal relationship with God that guided him throughout his life. His faith and sense of integrity influenced everyone around him, as he treated others with respect and compassion. Bud instilled these values in his family, leaving a legacy of honesty, warmth, and love. His unwavering spirit, laughter, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held at East Whittier Friends Church on November 24th at 2:00 PM.
