Bryant and I were first cousins, but he seemed like a big brother. I will miss talking with him; long, laughing conversations during visits back and forth between Virginia and Georgia, bobbing on inner tubes in the Gulf, walking through a snowstorm at Yale, and in recent years in phone calls beginning ‘Honey Chile,’ were a bright thread through my life. He reminded me that I taught him to play the flute; I thanked him for steering me to summer study at Harvard for French and to Stanford, where I met my husband. I am glad this tribute to him by Marquise Who’s Who mentions other aspects of his rich, valuable life:

I met Dr. Freeman through our mutual love of Clumber Spaniels. I served as Secretary of the Board during his time as the AKC representative. His contributions to the breed are remarkable. His intellect, kindness and the epitome of a gentleman will be missed. I am honored to have known him.

Dr.. Bryant and I met through our devotion of Clumber Spaniels. Yes, I called him Dr. Bryant to his face. It was the up most respect I could give him knowing his intellect,  achievements in his life ,  knowledge of history of Clumbers. and yet he was the most humble person I adored with his gift of knowledge. He will be greatly missed by Clumber Spaniel fanciers world wide. May he rest in peace and be granted "eternal life". Dr.Bryant, you left a huge hole in my Clumber world.  Connie Holt
