Bruce's obituary

Bruce J. Frazier, age 98, died July 26, 2025 in Sherman TX. Born February 2, 1927 in Drumright OK, Bruce was the son of Harry and Mary Frazier. The family lived in Drumright and Okema OK where his father worked in the oil field. After high school graduation, Bruce was inducted into the army, and served at Fort Riley Kansas.

After his service in the army, Bruce went on to graduate from Oklahoma A&M (now OSU) with his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1951. He worked for Boeing in Wichita KS, then moved to Duncan OK where he began working for Halliburton Service in 1953 as a design engineer. While in Duncan, Bruce met and married the love of his life, Mary Lou McDade, on November 14, 1953. Together they raised two children, David Bruce and Kristen Ann.

Bruce moved to Coffeeville KS in 1974, then on to Amarillo TX in 1980 where he opened and managed manufacturing plants for Halliburton. In the 35 years of his employment, Bruce invented several service devices and tools which Halliburton patented in his name. Some of these designs, including the first mobile frac-tank, are still being used by Halliburton around the world. He also designed two homes for he and Mary, a home for his daughter Kristen, along with other interesting and useful personal objects. Bruce was proud to belong to the Engineering Fraternity Pi Tau Sigma and to be a Registered Professional Engineer.

Bruce and Mary Lou were active members of the First Baptist Church in Duncan, Coffeeville, and finally in Amarillo, where in addition to being a deacon and involved with numerous committees and projects, he served as a Sunday School teacher for four year olds for 30+ years. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club and was voted “Kiwanian of the Year” two different times. Bruce and Mary loved to play bridge, and he enjoyed playing golf with his “buddies” well into his 80’s.

Bruce was a kind man, always perfectly dressed (thanks to Mary Lou), and friendly to everyone he came in contact with. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and always had a trick to show the little ones. Bruce loved Mary Lou and was forever dedicated to her until her passing on May 16th of this year. But most of all, Bruce loved his Lord, Jesus Christ, and was the perfect example of a faithful servant.

Bruce was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lou; his parents Harry and Mary Frazier; brother John Frazier; sister Shirley Frazier Hedger; and precious granddaughter Molly Frazier. He is survived by son David and wife Dr. Loraine Frazier of New York NY; daughter Dr. Kristen Frazier Burris and husband Bob Burris of Gordonville TX; grandsons Jeffrey Rowland and Daniel Rowland and their families; plus extended Burris family members.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 am Saturday, August 9th at the First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro TX.

In lieu of flowers, a gift can be made to the FUMC Frazier Memorial Fund for the construction of a wheelchair ramp.
