Brian's obituary

Brian Marburg, age 50, went to be with his Heavenly Father on February 9, 2025, after a three-year battle with cancer. There is much to remember and celebrate from Brian's life as a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, admired brother, loyal employee, and active community member.

Brian is survived by his beloved wife of twenty years, Ann Marie Marburg, their teenage children, Caiden, Haley, and Aylin Marburg, his parents, Richard and Joan Marburg, his brother, Richard Marburg, Jr., and sister-in-law, Staci Marburg. He also leaves behind his dear nieces, Jordyn and Brianna Marburg, and his in-laws, Tom and Judy Boor along with a brother in-law, Nathan Boor (wife Jen, children Sydney, Wakefield). In addition, many friends made throughout his life are grieving with heavy hearts; each of them will always cherish the memories they made with Brian.

Born on March 4, 1974, Brian grew up in Philadelphia. A highlight was attending Camp Canadensis every summer from kindergarten through college, first as a camper and then as a counselor. Brian graduated from the University of Delaware in 1996 with a B.S. in Accounting. Immediately, he passed the CPA exam and became a member of the AICPA. Brian embarked on a fruitful career beginning at Arthur Andersen and continuing as the CFO for several home building firms, ending with Doug Parr Homes.

At the beginning of Brian's career he made the two most important decisions of his life. First, he trusted in Christ believing Jesus paid for his sins through his death on the cross and receiving eternal life. This first decision led to the second. He started attending Church of the Savior where he volunteered with the high school ministry. This involvement led to him meeting his wife. He married Ann Marie Boor on September 11, 2004. The family grew to include three children. They enjoyed church, sports and community activities. One highlight for the family was their involvement with Ambassador Football (soccer). This brought great joy to Brian as he loved the blending of his passion for sports with his passion for sharing the love of Christ to all ages.

Later, in 2018 Brian and his family moved to Southlake, TX. This adventure brought many new experiences and Brian invested his time by volunteering in organizations that were close to his children’s heart, Southlake Carroll Lacrosse Association, Lady Dragon Lacrosse, and YoungLife. Many weekends Brian could be found outside spending time with his family. This included bike rides, pickleball, and on the field or court practicing lacrosse, soccer, football, and basketball.

Once diagnosed with cancer in June of 2022, Brian's faith in a loving God was unwavering and a great source of strength and comfort to him.

A Celebration of Brian's life will be held on February 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Gateway Church Southlake Campus. We invite everyone whose lives were touched by Brian to join us in honoring his memory.

In place of flowers, we request that donations be made to the "HEADstrong Foundation" Attack Cancer campaign. Contributions can be made at the following URL: https://pledge.headstrong.org….

As we say goodbye to Brian, let's remember his life was a testament to love, family and perseverance.
