Brian's obituary

It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Brian Long, born August 3, 1986, who left us too soon on January 26, 2024. Brian will be missed greatly by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Brian was a remarkable individual. His life was defined by kindness, sensitivity, loyalty, and love. He had a heart that was always giving, and he firmly believed that love is more powerful than any fear. His words and actions were a testament to these beliefs, and he often expressed that it is vital to give what we can, while we can.

Brian led by example and his life reflects his selflessness and passion for helping others. Brian was a bone marrow donor, saving the life of what at the time was a total stranger, now become friend. The absolute deepest love he saved for his partner and wife, Renee, whom he cherished deeply and loved well. A doting cat dad, Brian provided a loving home for their four cats: Tizzy, Chuck, Scarlett and Fury. Brian’s hobbies also included an avid love for comics and superheroes, amassing a significant and impressive collection of figures and memorabilia throughout his life.

Brian leaves behind a legacy of generosity and gentleness. His passion for science and truth were extraordinary, participating in whatever medical studies he could to help research progress for patients with similar conditions to him.  He was a voice and advocate for people living with chronic conditions and had a special love for people who may otherwise be forgotten or overlooked. His deep empathy knew no bounds, and he has an amazing ability to remain curious in a world that often demands divisiveness.

Brian’s capacity for love and loyalty held fast over the years, and to quote one of his favorite Elliot Smith songs, “I’m never gonna know you now, but I’m gonna love you anyhow.”

In Brian's memory, funds are being raised for the "National Marrow Donor Program". Contributions can be made at the following website: https://everloved.com/life-of… . In lieu of flowers, we invite you to join us in honouring Brian's legacy of generosity and life-giving contribution by supporting this cause.
