Brett's obituary

Brett Thomas Schuelke passed away on June 21, 2024, at the age of 33. Born on December 20, 1990, in Big Rapids, Michigan, he grew up in the area and attended school in Reed City. Brett then completed his undergraduate studies in political science at Central Michigan University before going on to earn his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Toledo. His passion of law led him to a fulfilling career as an attorney in the General Counsel’s office at Ferris State University from 2016 to 2024. Outside of his professional life, Brett was an avid reader and a sports fan who found joy in watching games and playing golf. Above all, his greatest joy was found in the time he spent with his family. He is survived by his wife, Brandy; his sons, Jack and Rory; parents Mark and Linda Schuelke; brother Matt (Aly) Schuelke; grandmother Honora Perry, sister-in-law Emily Lawrence; brothers-in-law Bryan and Christian Lawrence; and his many nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. To know Brett was to love him, his larger-than-life personality, his infectious smile, and his uncanny ability to strike up conversations with anyone and everyone endeared him to all who crossed his path. His memory will be cherished, and his spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary Catholic church on Marion Avenue in Big Rapids, Michigan, on Monday July 1, 2024. Visitation hour will start at 10am and mass will be held at 11am, followed by a luncheon at noon. The family kindly requests donations to be made to the Musella foundation or The American Brain Tumor Association in Brett’s honor. May his memory be a blessing to us all.
