Brett's obituary

Brett Douglas Knights, 56, of Wilkesboro, North Carolina passed away on September 6, 2022 in Polanco, Mexico City of a heart attack.

He was born on November 4, 1965, The Youngest child of Bill and Shirley Knights, in Schenectady, New York. He grew up in Florida and graduated High School in Oviedo, Florida where he met his former wife Denise Knights.

Brett proudly chose both a career and family , and after having his first child, Ryan,  moved to Georgia to further his career. In Georgia Brett had his second child, Rachel (Stagg), and switched roles to work at ADP where he would grow immensely in his career.

Brett and his family (Denise, Ryan, and Rachel) would travel the world together, move states together, laugh together, and love together. Brett had a passion for travel, exercise, work, and people. Anyone that met him knows how personable Brett was. Brett helped raise two children and send each to college (Virginia Tech - Ryan, Auburn - Rachel), a mandatory requirement to him, and both are growing their own families while living on his legacy.

Brett's love for travel and exercise was matched when he met his husband Mario north of Chicago, IL.  They would go on to get married in Austin, Texas,  live in Costa Rica, live in Hoboken, New York, and finally settle down in North Carolina.

Brett was looking forward to retiring with his Husband Mario Peniche in their recent Wilkesboro, North Carolina home. Although their main stay was in North Carolina, not far from his Brother Gregg and family, Brett & Mario were world travelers visiting Africa, Vietnam, and many other places. They were constantly experiencing life together as they wanted, seeing sights and making memories.

Brett is survived by his Husband Mario; his brothers Gregg and Koert; his son Ryan (& Wife Heidi), his daughter Rachel (& Husband Taylor Stagg); his granddaughter Hope; and his best friend Denise Kolias.
