Brett's obituary

Brett Anthony Gessay, age 57, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 28, 2020. Brett was born in Manchester, CT on June 12, 1962 and spent his childhood in Rockville/Vernon before relocating to Hampton Beach, NH, the seaside home that he loved the most. He thrived in construction with a vast knowledge ranging from skyscrapers to master carpentry in restoring historical buildings. He worked for prestigious companies and later founded his own business. With the inspiration and help of family and friends, he lovingly designed and built the now famous Santa’s House in Rockville, CT. It was truly one of his proudest contributions to his hometown.
His insatiable quest for knowledge, along with his love for music and this amazing universe, was only outdone by his work ethic. He worked like a dog and loved every minute of it. His motto was “I’m not fussy, perfect will do.” Brett made friends easily and his charm, powerful enthusiasm, tall and handsome stature and quick wit will be remembered for our lifetimes. He approached his struggles, both physical and mental, as challenges to be conquered or endured. He was tough and tender and enriched the many lives he touched. He will be greatly missed.
Brett was predeceased by his loving grandparents, Betty & Kenneth Berrett of Hampton Beach, NH and Sabina & Francis Gessay of Rockville, CT. He is survived by his mother Maureen and her husband Kenneth Riley of Newport, RI, his father Dennis Gessay and his sister Jessica Gessay of Ashford, CT, his sister Caroline Borrup of Clermont, FL, his sister Darcy and her husband Peter Desmond of Vernon, CT, his daughter Sabina and her husband Robert Rocheteau of Baltimore, MD and his stepson Alex Sielicki of Amesbury, MA.
Due to current restrictions, a graveside service will be held in NH and a memorial service in CT at later dates. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA in honor of Brett and his love for his pup Carl.
