Brett's obituary
Brett Dean Corkill Jr., 37, of Reno, Nevada, passed away on November 9th, 2024. A talented electrical engineer, Brett dedicated his career to solar energy, working tirelessly to harness the power of the sun and make the world a brighter, more sustainable place.
Brett's love for life was as vibrant as his dedication to his work. Known for his infectious laughter and endless humor, Brett was awarded “Best Sense of Humor” in second grade—a title he carried proudly throughout his life. From an early age, he had a way of lifting others’ spirits and making people laugh, a gift he shared freely with everyone he met.
He was the self-proclaimed “biggest nerd” and proud of it, with a heart and humor that could light up a room. Brett attended countless comic conventions over the years, immersing himself in the world of superheroes, sci-fi, and fantasy. At these events he often cosplayed his favorite characters and connected with friends who shared his boundless enthusiasm.
Music was another of Brett’s great loves. His playlist was a blend of genres, and he was always on the hunt for new sounds. Whether he was at a live concert, jamming with friends, or simply listening to his favorite records, music was a part of his soul.
Brett will be deeply missed by his mother, Darlene; his father, Brett Sr.; and his younger sister, Dana, who all cherished his kindness, humor, and endless curiosity. Though his time here was brief, Brett left a lasting mark on everyone he met, inspiring them to embrace life, pursue their passions, and never stop being themselves.
In honor of Brett’s legacy, his family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
