Brett's obituary

Brett Edwin Chamberlain of Lancaster, SC died unexpectedly on June 23, 2022 at the age of 54.

Brett is survived by his loving wife of 26+ years Carol Chamberlain of Lancaster, SC; his two sons, Braden Edwin Chamberlain and Carter Phillips (Jessica) Chamberlain; mother, Judy Chamberlain; siblings, Dale (Lisa) Chamberlain and Aaron (Charlotte) Chamberlain; father-in-law, Ron (Anne) Phillips; brothers-in-law, Tom and Tim (Maureen) Phillips; sister-in-law, Christine Clements; and many dear aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Keith Edwin Chamberlain, and his mother-in-law, Judy Phillips. Brett was eagerly awaiting the birth of his first grandchild, due in December.

Brett was born on October 31, 1967 in Kenmore, NY. He graduated from Lockport High School in 1986. After high school, Brett’s adult education continued at Stan’s Home Plate with classmates and friends old and new. Brett and Carol married in 1995 and welcomed their sons and a series of beloved dogs (Buddy, Bella, Piper, and Luna) as they built their life together. Brett was an entrepreneur who started many of his own businesses before building a career as an insurance adjuster, working as a large loss adjuster for Liberty Mutual at the time of his passing.

Brett was an accomplished woodworker who had the biggest heart and loved to make people laugh, especially with his Joke of the Day. Some of his favorite memories were made camping with his family and friends, and enjoying bloody Mary’s and breakfast. Always the first one up and the first one to bed. He was a founding and dedicated member of the Six Pack Cruiser Club, who loved long rides through the mountains and hanging out at the clubhouse. He had a strong faith and loved his church community. His loyalty and integrity were some of his strongest traits

The family will hold two Celebration of Life ceremonies to honor his memory in both his current home and his hometown. On June 30th the family will receive friends at New Spring Church, 4034 Charlotte Hwy, Lake Wylie, SC 29710, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with services at 6:00 and light refreshments immediately following. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Brett’s life.

On July 3rd, the family will receive friends at New York Beer Project, 6933 S Transit Rd, Lockport, NY 14094, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., with services at 2:00. According to Brett’s wishes, there will be beer and bar food.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Brett’s memory may be made to the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation, Inc. at www.cdlsusa.org and Carolina P.A.W.S. (Pet Adoption & Welfare Society) at www.carolinapaws.com

Brett often said that in his next life he wanted to return as a Chamberlain dog, because they are loved beyond measure. Some other well-known Brett-isms include “I love you, man”; “It’s hard to leave the party when you can’t find the door”; “’mere duck!”; “‘Preciatcha”; and, most importantly, Grampa’s Magic Words: Please, Thank You, Try and Be Careful. Brett, we all love you, man.
