Brett's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brett Barentine, born April 18, 1971, who departed from us on October 7, 2023. Brett was an exemplary figure, full of compassion, optimism, and encouragement. He was best known for his boundless love for his family, friends, and three beloved dogs.

Brett was predeceased by his father, Wayne Barentine; his cousin, Bryan Edwards, his stepbrother Jody Crenshaw,  his Aunt, Louise Henderson, & his Uncle, Leon Leitner. He leaves behind a loving family; his mother Estelle Barentine, step-mother Donna Barentine, brothers Dan Barentine (wife Kelli, son Aiden)  & Jason Hall (son Jason Hall JR), aunt Dorothy Parker, first cousins Dwayne Edwards, Laurie Edwards, Rodney Foushee, Tasha Foushee, Elizabeth Gu, Loretta Sirota, Laura Ann Brown & Dwayne Cook as well as his Stepbrother Jeff Crenshaw (wife Marjorie),  Stepsister Elisa Sole (daughter Katie) and nephew Michael Crenshaw.

A man of many talents and passions, Brett loved running on the beach, working out, and spending quality time with his mother. Brett would often say "Instead of Big Government he had Big Mama"! Brett was Momma's best friend and he did everything for her.

His love for fitness was so profound that he once led the SEAL Team workouts in the Navy on the USS Theodore Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier. He frequently enjoyed the taste of Cuban and Indian food and was a fan of South Carolina Gamecocks Football.

His love for music was equal to his love for sports, with a particular interest in hip-hop and Christian Rap. When not engaged in these activities, he enjoyed reading Christian fellowship and faith advancement books. Brett was an avid animal lover and would feed ALL the wildlife on his 14-acre farm. He had deer, bears, birds of prey, fish, raccoons, honey bees, and lots of hummingbirds that would frequent his property.  His favorite vacation spots were The Bahamas, Tampa FL. and anywhere with crystal clear water, warm weather, and fish he couldn't catch.

Brett was a generous soul who gave willingly to many Christian organizations worldwide such as Compassion International where he sponsored 6 kids for over 12 years, Life Outreach Ministries, Mercy Ships, Doctors without Borders, and many others helping spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Brett achieved many things in his lifetime. One of his most notable achievements was thriving in his role as a State Farm Catastrophe Team Manager, where he demonstrated his dedication and compassion by helping people in times of catastrophe. His boss said, "he lit up a room and never met a stranger".  Brett was proud to have put himself through college at the University of South Florida, earning a Bachelor of Business and Finance degree.

His legacy will forever be a testament to his generosity, kindness, patience, and perseverance. A Celebration of Brett's life will be held on November 18, 2023, at 3:00 PM at the Trinity United Methodist Church 706 14th Ave S. North Myrtle Beach, SC. The family will accept visitation at the church at 2:15 p.m.
