Brent's obituary

Brent Turner Lived Life

In the quiet beauty of the Hawaiian Islands, on April 18th, 2024, our beloved Brent Ray Turner departed from this world, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories. Born on April 28th, 1955, in Mercer, California to Paul Eugene Turner and Ardyth Gibson.

Brent's life was one of profound meaning and purpose, shaped by his experiences and the love of his family. As the eldest of nine children, 7 boys and 2 girls, Brent learned responsibility and hard work early in life. He enjoyed working alongside his father in numerous jobs through his young years. His dedication to his family was unwavering, reflected in his meticulous chores. Brent had a passion for sports, particularly baseball, where he excelled and won numerous trophies. His adventurous spirit led him to explore the red hills behind his home, hunt catfish in Monroe, and later enjoy snow tubing and snowmobiling in the mountains. Camp Maple Dale in Payson held a special place in his heart, where he spent many summers and winter weekends with his father and grandparents, creating cherished memories.

After graduating from Richfield High in 1973, his journey took him to Snow College for a year before embarking on his mission to Scotland from 1974 to 1976. Upon his return, fate led him to his soulmate, Carol, whom he married in 1977. Together, they embraced the joys and challenges of life, raising their children with love and dedication.

Brent's career path was a reflection of his adventurous spirit and willingness to embrace change. From working in the moving business in Richfield to partnering with Carol's brothers in Fountain Green, he found joy and camaraderie in every experience. His eventual return to BYU to complete his degree in accounting was a testament to his determination and commitment to his family's future.

His tenure at UVU brought him immense joy, both professionally and personally. He cherished his time with his colleagues and the opportunities to create lasting memories with his family. Trips to California for seminars became family adventures, highlighting his love for travel and exploration. In 1993, Brent and his family made Payson their home, where he found peace and joy in the outdoors. His daily walks up the canyon were a testament to his love for nature and his appreciation for life's simple pleasures. His favorite destination, however, was the Hawaiian Islands, where he found solace and tranquility.

Brent was predeceased by his parents Paul and Ardyth, his youngest brother Kevin, his grandchildren Aubrell, Mia, Temo, and his great-grandson Ki. He is survived by his siblings: Steve, Scott, Mark, Paula, Shanna, Craig, and Brad Turner, and their children. Brent's children: Heath, Hyrum, Preston, Bethany, Angela, Jeremy, and their children. Finally, he is survived by his beloved wife Carol Jacobson Turner. The family requests that all flowers and notes be sent to her home.
