Born on August 6, 1983 – the man, the myth, the legend, Brent Gordon Mills, touched the hearts and lives of so many during his short 40 years on this earth. Overseeing a telemarketing sales floor before shifting into telecommunications field sales, he was arguably the best salesman around, with many saying he could sell ice to an Eskimo. Brent also loved water - no matter if it was a bathtub, pool, river, lake or ocean, if water was near, Brent had to get in it, regardless of the temperature.
An avid football fan, he played the Raiders theme song, ”The Autumn Wind,” every morning before work, and he watched the Detroit Lions play football every Sunday afternoon. Brent also played on the Farmington Harrison High School Football Team during its championship games in the early 2000s. During his time at Wayne State University, Brent became an honored member of The Gamma Iota Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and he played on the Warrior Football team before he opted to pursue his full-time career. However, more than all of these things that were dear to him, Brent deeply loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances; maternal grandmother, Effie; and paternal grandmother, Roberta (Bobbie). Brent leaves behind his father, Gordon Mills; brother Scott (Tunisha) Mills; Daughters, Cameron and Phoenix Mills; Uncle, Greg Mills; Aunt, Gwendolyn Thompson; and the love of his life, Nakia Mills, along with a host of cousins, great aunts, great uncles, friends and colleagues.
Brent’s soul left his body on May 18, 2024, but he always said he wanted people to celebrate living this one life we get before it passes us by, instead of sobbing when his time comes. Therefore, in his honor, we remember his witty jokes and catch phrases, funny come-back lines, and all the positive experiences we were lucky enough to share with him.
The Mills Family will no doubt miss our beloved Brent, but we are glad to know he is at peace, and reunited with his loving mother and grandmothers in Heaven.
