Our beloved sister Brenda Lee Smith ... Rest in Peace 🙏
Brenda's death was unexpected and the family is not financially secure to pay for the small cremation costs. Several family members are on limited fixed incomes and the others have extended their credit. We have been unable to obtain even a small loan to cover the funeral costs. We are asking for any help that you're able to donate even if it's $1 because everything adds up. Brenda was the 2nd oldest and was mentally delayed. She was told 2 days before her death by the EMT's to "stop abusing the system. Stop calling 911 because a child could be choking!" She had called several times because she was not feeling good. The EMTs apparently checked her out and said she was okay. She had called 911 several times. 2 days later she was dead. The hospital called the family roughly 7 hours after she had passed. Claiming they tried to get a hold of us. No one received a call the night the EMT's finally came to get her because another sister called up from Oregon to tell them her sister had called and wasn't feeling good and that the EMT's told her to stop calling. She convinced the police chief to go over there to our sister's apartment. Apparently they took her in, but NEVER called anyone. No one even knew our sister was in the hospital until after she passed. We're asking to please help us. We were not financial prepared for this. Our family has had 6 family deaths since November of 2010. This is really a financial hardship. We are truly embarrassed and ashamed that we even have to ask for help, but unfortunately we have no other options. We want to thank you in advance and appreciate anything you are able to donate.
