Brenda's obituary
Brenda Skalsky, born on November 21, 1960, gracefully and peacefully left our physical realm on August 2, 2025. A beacon of kindness and tranquility, Brenda's radiant personality warmed the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Brenda was predeceased by her beloved father, Benjamin Skalsky, her mother, Joyce McCarroll, her brother Dennis Ray Skalsky, her sibling, Benjamin Skalsky, and her sister, Patricia Stimson. She is also predeceased by her grandson, Mario Schellhorn-Mendez.
She leaves behind a loving family, who will forever cherish her memory, including her daughters, Ashley Schellhorn-Mendez and Harley Schellhorn, her granddaughters, Mariana Lou and Herlinda Lou Schellhorn-Mendez, and her grandsons, Francisco Ray and Mario Junior Schellhorn-Mendez.
In 2017, Brenda moved to Worcester, MA, embracing a new chapter in her life. The same year, she celebrated the marriage of her daughter, Ashley, to Mario Mendez-Ramirez.
With a heart bursting with love for her family, Brenda found joy in life's simplest pleasures. Her favorite foods included Chinese, Applebee's, Olive Garden, and homemade Banana Bread any of her daughter Ashley's home cooked meals while her preferred drinks were Diet Coke, Coffee, and Diet Mountain. She loved watching The First 48 Hours and COPs, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, playing Bingo, and spending quality time with her grandchildren and children. Brenda also loved an adventure, and any vacation spot became her favorite if it involved her beloved grandkids.
Brenda was always committed to causes that put the well being of children and grandchildren first. Her favorite color was purple, mirroring her royal heart and caring nature. Her friends, family, and loved ones will remember her as a warm, loving, caring, and incredibly easy-to-love personality. She often imparted wisdom: treat others as you would wish to be treated, live every day to its fullest, and love with all your soul.
Brenda's greatest accomplishments included finishing nursing school, the birth of her two daughters, the chance to see her grandchildren come into the world, and the ability to take care of them. She also recalled with a gleam in her eye, her little red Ford Focus's journey from Iowa to MA.
Her legacy lives on through the kindness and humility she bestowed on the world. Her daughter Ashley(Mario) Harley, her son in laws Roberto, Jaime, and Denis Mendez, will profoundly miss Mama. Francisco, Herlinda, JuJu, and Mariana will also dearly miss their Nana. Although our hearts yearn for her presence, we find solace in knowing she is at peace.
