We met as roommates in college and, because it was so easy, I've never forgotten her birthday. She is very much on my mind and in my heart today.

I knew Shay as part of a close adoptive parenting group. I feel her loss deeply and my heart is with Paula,Kaylin, Naomi, and all the loved ones so close to Shay.
In response to "What always reminds you of Shay?"

Hi Paula,

Monica and I are holding you and your family in our hearts. We have walked this road together and are grateful to have known Shay, if not in person, but through our many conversations over  the years.

You picked a great photo of her!

Our Love,

John and Monica

Sad to hear this classmate of mine at A. L. Has gone on this next journey. I fondly remember pickup basketball games in which she was as good and as tough as the guys. That spoke to her spirit and toughness in life as we stayed attuned in our parallel Facebooking. Godspeed to Shay and warm wishes for her surviving family.

One of the most tough human being we've ever met, and one of the most powerful woman we've ever known--Intelligent and knowledgeable, compassionate and kindhearted--Shay was such an admirable woman, mother, dentist, and musician who always brought to those around her the spark of hope to fight against life. We will never forget all the knowledge and time which she was so generous to offer, and we will forever be grateful for all the help from her which we were so lucky to receive. We could not have been where we are now without Shay, and there’re just not enough words to express our deepest gratitude. We will carry all the love and warmth that we were so fortunate to receive from her along, and, in memory of Shay, continue to pass them on.

From Maggie and Zhou Wei

Shay was my first dentist, one of my first audience, one of my first driving coaches, and one of the sharpest person in the world. She was an extraordinary woman, a brilliant teacher, and a super cool mother. Her action gave me a chance to peek the world from an alternative angle, and her words gave me power to chase after what I truly long for from the bottom of my heart. Her kindness will forever be kept in my memory, and the precious memories will be forever remembered in my melody.

From Jenny Zhou

Over the years Paula and Shay were always a part of our family vacations when we’d visit Janis and Kay. Shay’s energy and enthusiasm was infectious and we all made many memories together especially at Paula and Shay’s Lake house. Before that house was even there I remember the little cabin that Shay’s dad built on his property. Who knew that it would become the beautiful setting it is today.

My heart goes out to Shay’s family and friends. The world is a better place for her presence in it.
