Brenda A. Nightingale, neé Converse, of Newport, NH, passed away on Sunday, April 9th, 2022. She was 74 years old. She spent her final days surrounded by her beloved family, with photos of her husband, Terry Nightingale Sr., who predeceased her in 2019.

Brenda is survived by her siblings, Hilda Underwood, Larry Converse, Harry Converse, and Apryl Blake, her children, Terry Nightingale Jr., his wife Joanna Nightingale, and Tammi Nightingale, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. There are countless more who will feel her loss keenly. She was a very loving, generous, and kind woman who always made people feel cherished.

Despite the devastation of losing such a wonderful woman, her family takes solace in knowing that Brenda’s dream will finally come true. She has loved Jesus her whole life. She never feared death, for only in death would she be able to run into Jesus’ open arms. Only in death would she be reunited with her husband, family, and dear friends.

Brenda was a loving, considerate, generous woman who always went out of her way to ensure the comfort of others. She was very artistic and creative. She loved making crafts, wrote award-winning poetry, and even became adept at digital art, making collages and graphics in leu of cards for her loved one’s birthdays, anniversaries, and other celebrations.

The light remains….

There are some who bring a light

so great to the world that even after they pass,

the light remains.

Her love was a shining light, illuminating that which people needed to see in order to make it through even the darkest of times. Her love was a force of nature, powerful and raw, with infinite strength. Her love has changed people’s lives. Anyone who knew Brenda would know that she’d want us to remember that, even though she isn’t with us in flesh and bone, her love remains.

In leu of flowers, donations may be made to Tammi Nightingale to help with living expenses, as she and Brenda lived together and supported one another. If you with to make a charitable donation in Brenda's honor, money or pet supplies donated to the Upper Valley Humane Society would be appreciated. They ran a food pantry for low-income families, and Brenda always had a soft spot for animals.
