Brenda Metz, 79, passed away on December 31, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Brenda was the sweetest woman, always putting everyone else before herself. She was strong in a way that didn’t need to be loud—witty and funny, a little stubborn at times, but endlessly kind to everyone she met.

She spent many years working for the school board, a career she dedicated herself to wholeheartedly. After retiring, Brenda found a new meaning in life in Falling Waters, West Virginia, with her husband Tarzan Metz where she truly began to enjoy life at her own pace.

She found her greatest happiness in spending time with her family, relaxing at the campground, listening to others sing karaoke, and going on cruises—activities that brought her joy, laughter, and lasting memories. Nothing made her happier than a Diet Dr Thunder, a bowl of popcorn, and enjoying the music and laughter around her.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Tarzan; her three daughters, Lisa DeLucco (Tommy), Chelle DiGennaro (Tony) & Ember Jo Smock (Carl); her brother, Ted Solo (Susan); her grandchildren Brandon, Jeremy, Scott, Logan, TJ, James, and Amanda; her nieces Jennifer and Shannon; and a large and growing group of great-grandchildren who brought her endless pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Marion Solo; and her husband, Harold “Duice” Ricketts.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose selflessness, humor, and quiet strength left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.

A celebration of life will be held on February 14th at the Woodsboro American Legion from 2pm-6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to American Diabetes Association.
