Brenda's obituary
Brenda Lee (Avila) Medeiros, 84, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away on February 22, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.
Born in New Bedford on February 17, 1942, Brenda spent her life in the city she proudly called home. She will be remembered for her witty personality, sharp intelligence, and unmistakable sass that could brighten any room. Brenda had a curious and thoughtful mind and was an avid college student who enjoyed studying and writing.
For many years, Brenda worked at Country Donuts, where she became a familiar face to many in the community. She enjoyed connecting with people and had a way of leaving a lasting impression on those she met.
Brenda cherished the time she spent with those closest to her, especially her dear friend Pat. There wasn’t a moment that went by that she didn’t enjoy with her beloved pup, Ruby
She loved traveling to Florida to visit her father, trips that brought her great happiness and lasting memories. She also had a special love for flea markets and yard sales, always enjoying the thrill of finding unique treasures. Her favorite tunes played were Elvis Presley, Barbara Streisand, & Ann Murray.
In her quieter moments, Brenda could often be found working on a puzzle or adding to her beloved owl collection, small reflections of the patience and appreciation she had for life’s simple joys.
Brenda was predeceased by her husband, Charles A. Medeiros Sr.; her son, Kevin Medeiros; her sister, Phyllis A. Rick of Norwalk, CA; and her brother, Michael D. Avila of Freetown, MA.
She is survived by her brother Bruce of Denver, CO and sister Sandra Avila of Lakeland, FL; her children Charles A. Medeiros, Michael W. Medeiros, and John A. Medeiros, all of New Bedford, MA; Andrew J. Medeiros of Fall River, MA; Scott K. Medeiros of Taunton, MA; and Mark A. Medeiros of Phillips, ME; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward.
In keeping with her wishes, Brenda was cremated. A remembrance of her life will be shared by her congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Brenda will be remembered for her humor, intelligence, and the special spirit she brought to everyone who knew her.
