Brenda's obituary
Brenda Joyce Dangerfield was born the second daughter and third of four children to Mildred and Geneva Dangerfield on June 27th, 1953, in Chicago, IL.
Brenda graduated from Austin High School in 1971 and went on to work for the United States Postal Office. She then brought into the world her only son, Jahbari, and they spent most of his early childhood in San Diego, CA., where she also stepped in as guardian for her niece Rashuda.
Brenda was always known to be caring and generous to anyone she came across. She truly never met a stranger. She enjoyed having children around her and often stepped in to care for others as if they were her own. In 2003 she opened her home to her great-niece and nephew Na’kif Lee and Israel Mangren. Raising these two, and spending time with their younger siblings was a source of pride and joy for her.
Brenda loved life and people. She constantly participated in community events and was a big supporter and dedicated member of Carey Tercentenary AME Church. She enjoyed bowling, walking, thrifting with and for her daughter-in-law Regina, dancing, laughing and just overall having a great time in life.
Her parents Mildred and Gene, younger brother Melvin (Deno) and nephews Dupree and Ahdirl (Jamar) all preceded Brenda in death.
Brenda made her peaceful transition to be called home with the Lord on December 2nd, 2023. She is survived by her only child and son Jahbari (Regina), beloved grandson Judah Emmanuel, sister Carolyn, brother Marvin, niece Rashuda, nephews Kataka and Mario, great-nephew Na’kif, and great-nieces Israel, Kamaria and Yuari. Along with her close family, she leaves to cherish her memory a host of extended, chosen, and beloved family and friends including her goddaughters Juanta and Tempriece, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and numerous friends and extended family.
