Brenda's obituary
Brenda Kay Adolphson, known lovingly to those closest to her as "B-nugget," "Brenda K," “Aunt Brenda”, “B-Rizzle” and "Brenny," passed away on April 19, 2026, at the age of 67. She was a resident of Woodstock, Virginia, and a woman whose presence left an unmistakable mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born on March 29, 1959, in Hampton, Virginia, Brenda grew up with a fire in her spirit that would define her entire life. She was passionate, powerful, and strong, yet she loved hard and forgave easily. Beautiful inside and out, she carried herself with a grace that made people feel seen and valued.
Brenda was a woman of many talents and accomplishments. She earned her nursing degree from Shenandoah University, dedicating herself to the care of others in a way that came naturally to her generous heart. Never one to be defined by a single path, she later started her own graphic design business, channeling her deep love of the arts into a creative venture that reflected her adventurous spirit. Along the way, she found the love of her life, John West, and together they built a world centered on family and their love for music and each other.
Above all else, Brenda cherished her children and grandchildren. Raising three children was the achievement she held closest to her heart, and watching her family grow to include seven grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy. She loved music, antiques, and travel, and she treasured time spent with family and friends more than anything. Especially her sister Janet, her love for Janet was deeper than words could describe.
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Valerie Purdy and her husband Nicholas; her daughter, Kristen Hotek and her husband Eric; her son, Andrew Adolphson and his wife Katelynn. She is also survived by her seven beloved grandchildren; Shawn, Hailey, Nolan, Camden, Brennan, Kayelynn and Cora. They were the light of her life and she loved them deeply.
Brenda's faith in the Lord was growing deeper, day by day and carrying her through every season with unwavering hope. She now rests in the arms of her Savior, and her family takes comfort in the promise of John 16:22: "So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you."
