How you can help

My name is Sara Tague, and I am the mother of Brandon Lee Tague, who tragically took his own life in the early morning hours of December 29,2024. He was just 20 years old and had struggled with depression since his early teenage years. For two years, he had successfully overcome his depression and battled drug addiction, achieving a remarkable sobriety streak of 1,005 days.

Brandon had been employed at Tyson Foods for approximately eight months before being laid off. He had recently secured a new job with Warren and was set to start on January 6, 2025. He was eagerly looking forward to this opportunity, primarily because he loved to spoil me and his siblings with the money he earned through hard work.

We are all in shock. Brandon had been doing well and showed no signs of relapse or being off his medication. I firmly believe that I would have noticed any changes just by the tone of his voice. On the 26th of December, he was making plans with his brother Devon and sister-in-law Sami to visit their new home, which is about an hour away. He had made plans with his brother Donovan to celebrate Donovan's upcoming birthday on the 31st of December. He was excited to celebrate his 19th with him by playing video games and eating junk food... Unfortunately, he left no note or indication of what he was feeling, leaving us with more questions than answers.

I am reaching out in hopes of raising enough money to cover his cremation costs and settle any debts he may have left behind. Brandon was extremely proud of having his own apartment, and he had taken out a loan for a vehicle. His life was moving in the right direction, and he worked hard so that those around him could see his progress. Above all, he wanted his 2-year-old son, Wyatt, to be proud to call him Dad.

Brandon was very attuned to the feelings of others. He could often sense when something was wrong, though he didn’t always directly ask about it. Instead, he would stick around and find little ways to make people smile or laugh without needing to know the details of their struggles. He genuinely didn’t like to see anyone sad or upset.

His younger brother, Donovan, wanted to enlist in the military but lacked the confidence to do so. Brandon spent countless hours highlighting Donovan's qualities that met military standards. Encouraged by these conversations, Donovan ultimately decided to enlist and has a ship date of January 7, 2025. Despite the ups and downs of life that sometimes kept them apart, Devon and Brandon always picked up their conversations as if no time had passed.

Brandon loved playing video games with his younger siblings and held a “no-clip” record on Fortnite with his brother Malakhi. While he battled his demons, he strived to be the protector of his family. Unfortunately, on March 20, 2024, at 2 PM, he lost his beloved furry friend, Butterball. He was devastated, having had Butterball since he was a puppy. Despite his grief, he continued with life after that loss.

Brandon leaves behind his nearly 2-year-old son Wyatt, his Grandpa Harold Tague from Council Bluffs, Grandma Becky Carter from Bloomfield, Iowa, and eight siblings: his oldest siblings, Devon, and his wife Sami from Cumberland, IA, Hayley and Baliee Council Bluffs, IA. Younger Siblings Donovan, Malakhi, Patrick, and Winter are all living here at home with me and His Cat Thomas, who is now at our home. He passed away with Thomas and butterball collars hanging on the wall beside where he passed. A cremation wasn't our first choice however burial costs are very high, and we understand times are tough for everyone right now so we are asking for help to have a nice funeral with cremation and with the little that would be left if we made the goal would go to any debt he leaves behind and or a trust for my grandson when he is an adult starting out. We all thank you for anything you can help with.
