Brandon's obituary

Brandon Sydess, born in Jackson, Alabama, passed away on January 2, 2026, in Tennessee.

Brandon was deeply rooted in his hometown and chose to attend the University of South Alabama in Mobile so he could remain close to family and community. After graduating, he pursued higher education in Chicago, Illinois, where he dedicated his professional life to substance abuse counseling and ministry. His work reflected his deep compassion for others and his desire to help those struggling find hope, healing, and purpose.

Brandon’s life was guided by a strong and unwavering connection to God. His faith shaped who he was, how he served, and how he loved others. He was known for his commitment to helping people through some of their most difficult moments and for living out his calling with humility and sincerity.

Brandon is survived by his four children, his two sisters, and a wide circle of family and friends who loved him deeply and will continue to carry his memory forward.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to organizations supporting men’s mental health and substance abuse counseling—causes Brandon was passionate about and hoped to dedicate his life to serving.
