Brandon's obituary
Brandon Meier Hoekstra
July 15, 1996 - October 9, 2021
Brandon Meier Hoekstra, 25, of Rowlett, Texas, died by suicide on 09 October 2021. He was born to parents Matthew Hoekstra and Josie (Meier) Peterson, on 15 July 1996 in Veszprem, Hungary.
He graduated from Sachse High School in 2014.
Brandon enjoyed reading, gaming, good science fiction stories, talking about MMORPGs with his dad and sisters, family dinners, camping, family vacations, large family gatherings, and watching his niece and nephew do the things that little ones do. He found joy in nature, was awed and fascinated by the workings of what he called "perfect tiny humans", and took it upon himself to protect those he loved at his own expense. Brandon's laugh from upstairs never failed to make those of us downstairs laugh right along with him, in spite of having no idea what was funny; and he was always there with a hug that didn't end until his mother was ready to let go. His unexpected humor, his infectious laugh, and the joy he brought to those who loved him will be deeply missed every day.
Brandon is survived by Matthew Hoekstra, father, Josie (Meier) Peterson, mother, Anthony Peterson, stepfather, Amanda Hoekstra, stepmother, Nadine Hoekstra, grandmother, Diane Peterson, grandmother, Loren Peterson, grandfather, Kathy Jo Meier, grandmother, Sandra Peterson Carder, grandmother, Samantha Hoekstra, sister, Claire Hoekstra, sister, Chloe Hoekstra, sister, Landry Hoekstra, brother, Isabelle Hoekstra, sister, Lilliana Hoekstra Ganser, niece and Arcturus Hoekstra Dollard, nephew.
He was preceded in death by Robert Hoekstra, grandfather, George (Mick) Fenton Meier Jr., grandfather, and Jamie Collins Meier, uncle.
The family has entrusted Allen Funeral Home with the arrangements. A memorial for family members is scheduled for October 20, 2021, at 6:00 PM at 415 N. Ballard Avenue, Wylie, TX 75098.
