Bradley's obituary
Bradley David Burland, 70, of Elyria, passed away January 22, 2026 at the MetroHealth Glick Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
Born February 16, 1955, in the predominantly Polish and Ukrainian city of Hamtramck, Michigan to David W. Burland (originally Burlockoff) and Julia (Turkiewicz) Burland, Brad grew up in Detroit. Brad's father proudly worked as a manager at the Kowalski Sausage Company.
Brad graduated from Notre Dame High School in Harper Woods, Michigan, where he was the Valedictorian for the Class of 1973. In 1977, Brad graduated Cum Laude from Albion College, majoring in History and English. He then went on to earn a Juris Doctor from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1980. He had many fond memories of his time in school and remained in touch with close friends.
The Cleveland area became Brad's permanent home after graduating from law school, where he started his career as an associate at two law firms. He served as the Director of Public Safety for the city of Olmsted Falls (1994-2000) and as the city prosecutor (1999-2014). In 1998, Brad founded his own solo law practice, which he continued until his death.
Working on cars was Brad's favorite hobby. He especially enjoyed the yellow 1979 MGB his parents gave him as a graduation gift from law school. Brad was a proud member of the Emerald Necklace MG Register and enjoyed traveling to car meets.
Brad is survived by his daughters, Emily (Matthew Digman) of Nashville, TN, and Erica, of Cincinnati, OH; dear friend, Helen Szucs; his brother, Douglas (Adrienne Spahr-Burland) of Sacramento, California; and many beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 31, at 11:30 am at the Grand Pacific Chapel (7994 Columbia Road, Olmsted Falls, OH), followed immediately by a Celebration of Life luncheon at Matteo's Italian restaurant (8072 Columbia Road, Olmsted Falls, OH).
