Background

I lost my Dad on Wednesday 06/16/2022. He had cirrhosis of the liver. He also beat liver cancer last September only to be diagnosed with lymphoma that same month. He went through six rounds of chemotherapy which cleared him of the cancer. He was supposed to have his last treatment in April but the drs wouldn't allow it because his body could not handle it. He was frail and exhausted. His kidneys and his liver wouldn't survive it, the Dr said he was already living on borrowed time. On April 21st we put him on hospice and I was able to spend time with him every day for two weeks. I came back to Texas, he became unresponsive, and non-verbal. I video chatted with him several times since I left Illinois but it was always me talking to him. He tried to speak but nothing ever came out. On Monday 06/14 the nursing home called and said he was transitioning and I needed to say goodbye. They let me tell him goodbye over the phone which was the single most painful thing I have ever done. That night when his wife got there I was able to see him on video chat and that was it. I had done everything I could from Monday to Wednesday to try and make it to Illinois before we lost him but I was too late. Thursday morning I got the call that he had passed away.

I spent a lot of money and time over the last 8 months traveling back and forth from Texas to Illinois to see him and help him.
Donations will help us pay for the cost to cremate him and bring him home. We are struggling to find ways to help pay for this.

Every little bit helps. Thank you!
