Bonnie's obituary
Bonita “Bonnie” J. Merrill (Murray) aged 68 of Oregon Illinois passed away Saturday morning May 20th, 2023. Her passing is a result to years of battling chronic COPD and most recently lung and adrenal gland cancer. She passed while surrounded by her beloved family. Born on July 27, 1954 to parents Marvin and June Murray. Bonnie was a long time resident of the Oregon area. She married Cerby Merrill at just 18 years of age. They had been together since she was 15 and had a long relationship/marriage of a collective 53 years. She had a marriage full of love, laughter, and great memories. In her lifetime she moved to Florida and Iowa then returned back to live out her days in her hometown. Bonnie was a one of a kind character. She always had a way to make everyone feel so very special. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and family with everything she had. She enjoyed her cool air conditioning, and was never too fond of the outside especially in her elderly years. Her husband was her best friend. They usually had a daily adventure whether that be to Menards, Marshalls, or old Navy to name a few. She had a knack of home design as she took design classes in her younger years. You could always find her painting, rearranging her furniture, or gathering new furniture. And best of all, she was the true matriarch to her family; being the best wife, mother, and grandma one could hope for.
She is survived by her husband Cerby Merrill of Oregon, brother Doug Murray, her children Chad Merrill, Clayton Merrill, Darci Thrasher (Merrill), daughter in laws Becky Merrill, Cathy Merrill, grandchildren Kate Merrill, Haylie Diehl, Kilee Diehl, Ashley Diehl, Garrett Merrill, Hunter Nelson, and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, mother in-law Rosemary Merrill, brother Kenny Murray, and her most recent loss her uncle Jim Daughtery of Iowa whom she loved very much.
She wished to not have a service or funeral. For those who carry her memory, remember her as the lively, caring, gracious soul she was. She will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her.
