Bonni's obituary

On Friday October 31st, Bonni Sanderson left us to join her mother, Karen Allen, stepfathers, Lynwood Allen and Scott Espenshade, and her grandparents William and Gladys Basom in Heaven.

Bonni Sanderson was born on Friday, June 9, 1967. From an early age, it was clear that she was destined to live a full, spirited, and compassionate life. Bonni wore many hats and embraced each role with energy, kindness, and heart. In her youth, she found joy in riding horseback, twirling a baton in parades, and connecting with people wherever she went. She worked as a bartender at the Mechanicsburg Gingerbread Man, where her lively spirit and friendly smile made her a local favorite. It was there that she met Denny, the father of her first child, and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime.

As she grew, Bonni discovered her calling to care for others. After earning her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential, she dedicated herself to a life of service. She worked as a nurse, childcare provider, mentor, and classroom aid for students with special needs. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her career; she was also a devoted football booster mom, always cheering on the children she loved as if they were her own.

A few years after the birth of her first child, Bonni met James Robinson, who would become her lifelong partner. Together, they raised a beautifully blended family and built a home that became a safe haven for relatives, neighbors, and anyone in need of love and acceptance. Their home was a place of laughter, warmth, and unwavering support, a reflection of Bonni’s heart.Bonni was a mother not just to her own children but to everyone in need.

Wherever she went, “Bonni’s Kids” were drawn to her warmth, kindness, and consistent care. She gave generously, seldom expecting anything in return, and exemplified Christ's teachings through her actions, love, and humility. Bonni brought people together. She was the village it takes to make it through this world.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband of twenty-two years, James Robinson (together for thirty years); her children, Katrina Sanderson-Evans, Brandon Robinson (Adrian), Jannelle Robinson, Kendrell Robinson, and Isabella Robinson; her stepchildren, Jamie Johnson (John) and Joy Robinson; and her step-grandchildren, Jayden, John, Jace, Aries, and Amari. She also leaves behind her father, Curtis Sanderson; her sisters, Angela Richcreek and Christine Bittinger (Mark); her sister-in-law, Rayginia Hill (James); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will continue to honor her legacy of love.

Bonni’s life was a testament to the quiet power of love and the strength of community. She leaves behind a legacy of care, connection, and courage—a legacy that will live on in every life she touched.
