My name is Katherine Regalado.
I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my family to honor the life of our beloved brother, Bubba. He was the youngest of eight children—a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and companion whose kindness and faith touched everyone who knew him.Bubba lived with our disabled mother and supported her with daily care, companionship, and love. He led the family effort—with our nieces, nephews, brother, and sisters helping when possible—to renovate her 27-year-old mobile home and make it safe and accessible for her needs. With no central AC/heat system, they were working tirelessly to improve her comfort and safety. He had a generous heart and a God-fearing spirit, always willing to help family, friends, and even strangers, even when he had very little himself.
Currently, more than half of Mom’s Social Security check goes toward medications and co-pays, leaving family to cover food, electricity, water, and other essentials when we can.
The home urgently needs the repairs our family started, including:Safe ramp for her motorized scooterRe-leveling the mobile home and repairing shifted joistsRepairing plumbing underneath where pipes have separatedFlooring repairs and bathroom renovation (accessible shower, ADA-height toilet, safer layout)Roof repairs for protection from the elements. Vents, window/portable AC/heat units, and front porch repairs for accessibility and comfort.
Bubba’s unexpected passing has left us facing immediate costs: $6,500 for the casket and funeral home expenses, plus $2,300 for mausoleum services (excluding flowers, post-funeral food, and other memorial expenses). We’re kindly asking for help to:Cover these funeral costs ($8,800 so far)Complete the safety and accessibility home repairs our family beganEase daily living expenses (food, utilities) beyond what Social Security covers.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 to cover these needs and give Bubba the dignified send-off he deserves while keeping Mom safe in her home.
