Bobbie's obituary

Barbara “Bobbie” Jane Slayman, the loving wife and mother of three children, passed away Monday, August 12, 2019, at the young age of 63. Bobbie was born on January 16, 1956, in Montgomery, AL to James “Red” Dudley and Barbara Diana Rodgers.

As the daughter of an Air Force Chief Master Sergeant, Bobbie, and her two sisters lived many places around the world. She met the love of her life, Steve, when she overcharged him at a post office in Nebraska. They married in 1977, initially settling in Omaha, NE where they had their two sons, Eric and Lucas. They returned to Montgomery to raise their sons and soon welcomed daughter, Emily. They raised their children with love, faith, and humor.

Bobbie loved The Lord, garage sales, Elvis, casseroles, and facilitating family fun. Above all else, Bobbie cherished her family. Those who love Bobbie remember her for her hard work, generous spirit, loyalty, and thriftiness. Even as she battled cancer, her positive outlook, courage, determination, and grace were an inspiration to us all. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her father and her sister, Terry Henry. She is survived by her husband Steve, her three children, Eric Slayman (Eliza), Lucas Slayman (Michelle), and Emily Gothard (Coleman)and her five grandsons, Jacob, Gunnar, Rocco, Hank, and Wilder, her mother Barbara, her sister Edy Rivard (Adrien), and many beloved family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 16, 2019, from 5-7 pm at Woodland United Methodist Church 4428 Wallahatchie Rd, Pike Road, Alabama, 36064. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed by the family.
