Bobbie's obituary
Bobbie J. Genberg
Bobbie Johann Ludwig was born in Norristown, PA, on February 10, 1933. She grew up in Englewood, NJ, where she graduated from Dwight Morrow High School in the spring of 1950. Her family attended Westside Presbyterian Church in Englewood, and her parents (Allen Kilmer Ludwig & Sara Lee Soliday Ludwig) had four children (Ruth Arlene; Robert John; Bobbie Johann; Barbara Lee).
Bobbie was introduced to David Edwin Genberg at a high school club, holiday party in 1948. She began attending Englewood Baptist Temple shortly after, where she dedicated her life to Jesus Christ. Dave and Bobbie dated for several years and were married on July 29, 1951, at the Masonic Lodge in Englewood. Bobbie attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing in New York City (1951-53), where she received her R.N. degree. She also attended Northeastern Bible Institute for a year of Bible and Missions training in 1953-54.
Dave & Bobbie had five children and lived in Fair Lawn, NJ, from 1959-1998. They raised two sons (David Allen; Jonathan Paul) and three daughters (Sharon Joy; Donna Lynn; Deborah Jeanne), and all five children graduated from Fair Lawn High School in the 1970s.
They were active members and participants in ministry at Englewood Baptist Temple. Bobbie served in numerous roles in a variety of ministries: Children’s Church and Sunday School, Adult and Children’s Choirs, singing and playing piano, Missions Committee, Church Secretary, Vacation Bible Schools, and Kids Backyard Bible Clubs. She was a teacher, leader, and mentor for Christ. In the late 1980’s, Dave and Bobbie became members at Calvary Evangelical Free Church where they remained members until their deaths.
Bobbie was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis around the age of 30 through she had shown symptoms earlier. She continued to work as an R.N., serve at church, and raise her family in spite of MS. Over time, she was able to attend the weddings of all five of her children, and enjoyed the births of 16 grand-children, as well as 15 great-grandchildren.
In 2001, Dave & Bobbie moved into an apartment at the home of Ron & Donna (Genberg) Abrahamsen in West Caldwell, NJ. Bobbie lived in the apartment with the care of the Abrahamsen & Ebersole families and several faithful, health-care workers until her passing into the presence of her Savior and Lord Jesus on March 25, 2025, at the age of 92.
Bobbie was content, patient, pleasant, and always thankful showing perseverance under trial. She was a woman of prayer who wrote hundreds of personal notes and letters to family, friends, and missionaries. She truly enjoyed playing games (Yahtzee), singing hymns, and spending time in God’s Word. Bobble genuinely loved her family, rejoiced in the Lord in all circumstances, and praised God for His everlasting love for her.
