Bob was the right man at the right time in my life, and I’m sure the Lord arranged all of it. Bob pulled me, kicking and fighting, into the men’s group that met on Wednesday nights. There, unbeknownst to me at the time, real discipleship was taking place, and I fell in with Bob and a few others for a time I came to really look forward to each week. Bob was so easy to talk with, but he asked questions that were straight to the heart of every matter. He was tough as nails, but his smile and his laugh could win you over instantly. He was honest. He would tell us about his life before Christ, and how he viewed success and failure through the lens of worldly success, and the many pitfalls that came with it. He shared his testimony of conversion, and the ‘polishing’ the Lord had done with him in his ongoing sanctification. What struck me most was how this man who was so strong on the outside was so tender in his heart. Only the Lord can change a man like that. And Bob never hesitated to share it all—the good and the not so good—and the Lord’s hand at work in all of it. I had never experienced anything like this before, and it was impactful. It changed the way I viewed what a man of God could be.

Bob Glover was a man of God. I’m so proud I knew him. I know I will see him again.

I don’t think I had ever met Bob before the “Day in the Shed”.  We were helping your family clean out what is now fondly referred to as the “scary shed” which has to be 40 years plus old now.  We had a quiet moment in the clean up and Bob simply asked me, “if you were to die tomorrow what would happen?”  I said I don’t know, I guess I would just be dead. Bob said “well that’s not the right answer”. He pulled out his little pocket Bible, read from some scriptures. After a few minutes he laid his hands on my shoulders and I was sobbing as I accepted Jesus into my life.  Thank You Bob!!
Bob was a great friend and a great man!  I miss our talks and hearing him talk about Joyce, Angel and Gracie with so much love.  He was all about the things of God and being a devoted husband and father.  Bob was always an encouragement to me and so many that he came into contact with.  I'm not sure he ever met a stranger.  He is deeply missed!

Bob was a great man of God.

He was tenacious in winning souls for Christ.  When he had an idea, like building his pastor a home, nothing would stop him.  Paula and I  loved Bob, and appreciated all the hours he put in to make our life better in service to the Lord.  I still have the wonderful "Portrait of a Minister" framed art he gave us as a housewarming gift.  ( As if he hadn't given way too much already).

Folks see his wonderful reflection and dedication through his wonderful wife, Joyce and Angel and Gracie.

May the Lord's sweet peace abide with you all as you share this 10th year of his transition to Glory.  Death cannot rob us of  "precious memories "!

2003, CBC's Father/ Daughter canoe trip

I remember being at Parris Island for a performance that was being  presented by CBC.   Don and I were sitting behind a couple who had an adorable 9 month old!  I was teasing with her and soon her dad turned around and we began to talk with him and her mom... the 9 month old was Angel and the conversation became the first of many with Bob and Joyce.   We always enjoyed Bob for his friendliness to us and his big smile that was always there even as he suffered.

We  loved hearing his humble story of loss and  success as he gave credit to the Lord for his journey.

What can I say about Bob Glov…

What can I say about Bob Glover?

The picture was interesting, I never knew him with dark hair; he always had the Moses-like shock of white hair.

Bob had a lot of talents, but maybe his best was his ability to dream and organize BIG! In so doing he would also stretch others around him to perform on a higher level.

The prime example of this was when Promise Keepers was in full swing, and we went from one bus from our church one year to 6 or 8 buses from I know how many churches! Everyone one around Bob grew immeasurably in those experiences, and I’m sure he’s gotten a taste of his reward for that.

He was also a funny guy… like when he kept pressing me for a heart prior to his transplant! I had called to see if he needed anything and he said “Scott, I need a heart”. I knew that, and he was high on the list for one. I asked if there was anything I could do for Joyce… “Scott, I need a heart!” I told him I’d be donating blood… “great, but Scott, I need a heart!” I was starting to feel panicked like he was expecting MY heart, but I’m sure he was just cracking up on the other end of the phone.

Bob has left a space that still hasn’t been filled, and he is still missed by many. But we’re one day closer to a reunion.

I will always reminder Mr. Glover’s kindness to me and his love for his girls! I specifically remember him giggling at Angel and I in middle school when we hung out for days on end at the house in Celadon. Also, the first time I had lox bagels was with the 4 of you — thankful for that, years of friendship and the love and hospitality of your family and Mr. Glover. 🤍

Bob’s smile and quiet chuckle lit up the room and that smile was usually for his sweet girls!! Boy, did his eyes sparkle when he was with them or talking about them. And the look of sheer ecstasy when he met his girls for the first time - priceless!! Such a loving husband and father!!! And an example to all!!
Bob Glover is one of my heroes. When he came to the Lord back in the 80's (I think it was the 80's) he dedicated his life to "making disciples". And God through him was amazing! Bob and I worked together and were friends. He was always loving and eager to share Truth with others. There are countless people today who are followers of Jesus (or who are already with Him in Heaven) because of Bob's unwavering commitment to Christ. Bob's legacy is often mentioned in conversations. Just last week his success with bringing others into the Kingdom was brought up as a group of us were discussing how to have a major impact on our area for Christ. He is a role model for what we'd like to do here. I can't wait to see him again!!
Bob Glover was an outgoing, friendly servant of the Lord.  I remember him sitting with his family in worship after climbing the many stairs to reach the balcony at our church.  He always had a smile and a word of encouragement.  His strong desire was for all to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
