Bob's obituary

Bob Croslin, of Saint Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 28th after bravely fighting leukemia for eight years.

Born on February 10, 1971, in Clearwater, Florida, Bob lived a life defined by passion, curiosity, and deep devotion to his family. He was the beloved husband of Leslie, with whom he shared 30 years of marriage, and a devoted father to Emily and proud father-in-law to Connor. Bob found his greatest joy in time spent with those he loved.

An accomplished editorial and commercial photographer, Bob got his start documenting skateboarders, a passion that shaped his creative eye and lifelong connection to culture and movement. He was widely respected for his mastery of technical lighting and his ability to make everyday people look like celebrities. Specializing in portraiture and culture, Bob photographed artists, athletes, rappers, wrestlers, and people from all walks of life. He worked at The Tampa Tribune, MSNBC.com, and The Tampa Bay Times before pursuing full-time editorial and commercial photography. Based in St. Petersburg, Florida, he traveled the world with his camera.

His editorial work was commissioned by major publications including Smithsonian, Saveur, Sports Illustrated, Golf Digest, ESPN, Rolling Stone, National Geographic, The Wall Street Journal, and NBC News. His commercial clients included HGTV, Citibank, Swatch, Discovery, Ford, Alfa Romeo, Tampa International Airport, Marriott, and WWE. Among his local clients, he photographed fine art pieces for the collections of the James Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts in downtown St. Petersburg.

Outside of his work, Bob enjoyed cycling, bird watching, and travel. When healthy, he spent his days riding with his Bikery friends and navigating the mountain bike trails at Alafia. At home, he found joy in feeding parrots, blue jays, and cardinals at his feeders. He was exceptionally well read and endlessly curious, known for his passionate insights and encyclopedic knowledge.

Bob is survived by his wife, Leslie; his daughter, Emily, and her husband, Connor; his parents, Robert and Beth Croslin; his sister, Lauren; his rescue Chihuahua, Renzo; extended family; and many dear friends.

The family is deeply grateful to the care team at Moffitt Cancer Center, especially Kathryn Herricks, the Berkeley Preparatory School community, Suncoast Hospice, and all who offered love and support.

Bob will be deeply missed and forever loved. His legacy lives on in those who loved him and in the extraordinary photographs he created, adorning our walls, screens, minds, and hearts.
