Blanche's obituary

Blanche Emmaline (Cooper) Szymanski

June 24, 1936 – April 26, 2025

Blanche Szymanski, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at Heritage Pointe Senior Living on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the age of 88, with family by her side. A celebration of life will take place at Lakewood Cemetery (in the Memorial Chapel), Minneapolis, MN, on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 10am, with fellowship and a light lunch to follow.

Blanche Emmaline (Cooper) Szymanski was born to Calvin and Helen (Harrison) on June 24, 1936, in Edina, Minnesota. Blanche graduated from Edina High School and then went on to become an Airline Stewardess with TWA. She met and married Norbert Szymanski in Chicago, IL. Together, they have six children.

Blanche grew up with a deep appreciation for family, creativity, and the simple joys of life. Her proudest accomplishments were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of her favorite traditions was hosting family holidays where she always made our favorite homemade Chocolate Angel pie and Cheesecake with homemade caramel sauce. Throughout her years, she nurtured her love for reading and painting, often losing herself in a good book or creating beautiful artwork that her loved ones will continue to cherish.

However, Blanche’s greatest joy came from the time she spent with her grandchildren — watching them grow, celebrating their achievements, baking and offering her love and support. Blanche’s gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to her family touched everyone who knew her. Her kindness and creativity left a lasting mark on those fortunate enough to be part of her life. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Calvin, Helen (Harrison), Ruth (Tangen, the mother who raised her), and stillborn daughter Suzanne.

Her precious memories will forever be cherished by her six children: Steve (Teresa) Szymanski, Todd (Bonita) Szymanski, Kimberly (David) Kopitski, Caryn (C.D.) Douglas, Scott (Tracy) Szymanski, Kristi (Greg) Radtke, and a host of grandchildren Ryan (Lindsey), Matthew (Katie), Justin, Kaelyn, Ty, Bria, Cade, Jennifer, Jorun (Mike), Christopher (Hannah), C.D., Carson, Chase, Jordan, Jared, Seth, Makia and 10 great-grandchildren Thorson, Quincy, Lucy, Everett, Jaxson, Ryder, Maverick, Harper, Granger, and Emelia.

Memorials will be donated to the Dementia Society of America.

We, the family of Blanche Syzmanski, would like to thank you for your thoughts, prayers, cards, flowers, kind words, or whatever you did to console our hearts. May God Bless you. Also, a special thanks to Horvath Funeral Service.
