Blanca's obituary

In Loving Memory of Blanca Ximena Posada

Sunrise: July 2, 1981 – Sunset: July 27, 2025

Blanca was a devoted wife, loving mother, faithful daughter, proud sister, and the quiet strength behind every room she entered. She was married to her beloved Ismael on July 15, 2011, and together they raised two beautiful children, Daniel and Elizabeth—centering everything they did around family, faith, and love.

Born on July 2, 1981, Blanca was raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, where she grew up in a loving household as the daughter of Hernán Farías and the late Celinda Castro—Chilean immigrants who instilled in her the values of faith, family, and resilience. She graduated from John F. Kennedy High School and went on to attend college locally, staying rooted in the community she called home and devoted to the people she loved most.

She worked for most of her adult life at Fitzgerald Auto Mall, where she began as a switchboard operator and rose to become the Special Assistant to the CEO. But her true title was mentor. She guided and inspired countless students through her involvement with Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School’s work-study program. In 2023, she was honored as Supervisor of the Year—a reflection of the legacy she built, student by student, life by life.

Blanca carried God in everything she did. Her faith was woven into every moment—gracefully, without ego. She was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church, where her children were confirmed, and where she and Ismael later exchanged vows. She trusted His path completely, even when that path became unimaginably hard.

In January 2025, Blanca underwent a heart and liver transplant. Though the road to recovery was filled with ups and downs, she faced it with her usual courage and quiet grace. In her final days, she battled a serious complication from the transplant. On Sunday, July 27th at 4:40 AM, she passed peacefully with Ismael by her side, holding her hands. She left this world surrounded by love.

She made every space feel safe. She listened deeply. She made room for others. She left every place better than she found it.

Blanca is held in the hearts of her husband Ismael, her children Daniel and Elizabeth, her father Hernán Farías, her grandmother Maggie, her siblings, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and the many friends and extended family who loved her dearly. She is now reunited in eternal peace with her mother, her maternal grandmother, both grandfathers,  and her beloved Tía Maggie, Tía Berta, and Tío Pedro.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

—2 Timothy 4:7

“He peleado la buena batalla, he terminado la carrera, he guardado la fe.”

—2 Timoteo 4:7
