Blanca's obituary

Blanca Lester Garcia, a devoted servant of God and a beacon of His boundless love, was called to her heavenly home on March 14, 2023, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 72. Born on November 22, 1950, in Bogota, Colombia, Blanca walked a path of faith, humility, and grace throughout her life.

Blanca’s heart was a wellspring of divine compassion, reflecting the light of the Creator in her every deed and word. She was an embodiment of selfless service, a tireless caretaker, and a nurturing presence to all who were blessed to know her. As a loving mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, she cultivated a garden of joy and kindness that flourished in the hearts of her family and community. Those that knew her lovingly called her “Blanquita”.

She arrived with her parents and siblings to the United States in 1965. She graduated from Newtown High School in New York circa 1968. She married Jorge on January 16, 1978 and moved to Houston, Texas in 1980. Blanca and Jorge had one daughter and two grandchildren. Gifted with the hands of a skilled seamstress, she wove threads of love into the fabric of her early life, later transitioning to a vocation in the world of computer languages and data entry. Her favorite secular occupation was with a bank in New York and later at a Houston healthcare facility in medical records. She was a self-made woman as she alone purchased her home and enjoyed it for over 35 years. Her independence and determination were matched by a spirit of adventure, as she found joy in the wonders of travel and the sacred moments spent with her cherished grandchild, Jack.

Blanca’s legacy of love is carried forward by her devoted daughter, Patricia Dulban; her son-in-law, Ben Dulban; her adored grandchildren, Jack and Johannah; and her siblings Martha, James, and George; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and friends. She was received into the arms of the Lord preceded in love by her parents, Jorge and Isabell Garcia.

The celebration of Blanca’s life and her journey to eternal peace will be shared with those who wish to honor her memory on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 5:00pm at 24400 Interstate Hwy 45, The Woodlands, TX 77386, Grace Woodlands.
