Background
Music was the heartbeat of Blake’s life. At 38, he had played guitar for over two decades, turning emotions into melody and connection into sound. Whether he was performing on stage, jamming with friends for hours on end, going to shows, or writing music, music was how Blake spoke to the world.
That’s why Broken Strings, a nonprofit dedicated to providing the gift of music to kids across Iowa, especially those who might not otherwise have the chance to play, feels like such a meaningful way to honor him. Founded on the belief that it’s our duty to raise the next generation of musicians up, Broken Strings helps students discover creativity, confidence, and connection through music.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Broken Strings honor Blake’s legacy by helping young musicians pick up a guitar, share the gift of music, and find their own rhythm, just like he did. Contribute to Broken Strings
