Blair's obituary

Blair, affectionately known as 'Sparky', left us on

September 27th, 2023, at the age of fifty-five while doing what he loved most,

playing the game of hockey.

Blair is survived by his devoted wife, Andrea Holliday, and his beloved daughters,

Alexa, and Tessa. He is also survived by his siblings, Dwayne Holliday, and Shelly

Hurren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Daisy Mae and George William, and

his brother, Darwin Holliday.

Blair's journey began on January 25th, 1968, in Terrace, BC. Three years later, his

family moved to the close-knit community of Burns Lake. Blair took immense pride

in being a northerner, and his love for the community ran deep. The people of Burns

Lake rallied around him when he faced the loss of his parents on December 31,

1985. His Burn’s Lake “family” had said the northern roots are crying with us right

now.

Best known as 'Sparky', a nickname he earned when his parents acquired Sparky's

Sport Shop in 1974, Blair was instantly recognizable on the road with his 'SPARKY'

license plate.

Blair's greatest passion was undoubtedly his family. He adored his wife, Andrea,

with whom he shared twenty-one wonderful years, and he was an exemplary father

to Alexa and Tessa. He skillfully balanced his professional pursuits around his

family life, bringing endless joy to his home. His daughters; friends fondly recall his

infectious laughter, playful banter, and the countless snacks he lovingly prepared.

Blair had worked with Excel Railing Systems aka his work family for 18 years. As

Assistant General Manager, he was cherished by his team, and was known for his

reliability, knowledge, and support. He brightened up the workday with his office

shenanigans, and was often accompanied by his “Security Detail,” Boston Terriers

Chammy and Tux.

Hockey held a special place in Blair's heart, particularly his unwavering devotion to

the Toronto Maple Leafs. A lifelong player, he recently took to the ice with the

Quick Silver Rangers, leaving behind a legacy in local leagues. Blair's love for sports

extended beyond the rink, embracing football, golf, and more. On game days, he

could be found donning a jersey, keeping score with his beloved 'Da Boyz' (Tuxy,

Chammy, and, in earlier days, Tank and Parker).

Blair's infectious sense of humor, abundant dad jokes, and profound knowledge of

'The Simpsons' universe will be forever cherished. He was known for his quirky

fashion sense, often sporting yellow Crocs. However, what endeared Blair to all

who knew him was his radiant smile and his ability to make people laugh with his

countless hijinks, his work family, friends, and sisters-in-law (Diana and Renee)

were frequent targets.

Blair was a remarkable individual—a dedicated family man, a thoughtful friend, and

a loyal employee. His absence leaves an immense void in the heart of all who knew

him. Words cannot adequately express the depth of our loss.

In memory of Blair, let us remember the light he brought into our lives, his love for

his family, friends, and his enduring passion for sports. He will forever hold a special

place in our hearts.

The Burns Lake Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2-4pm July 20, 2024 at Island

Gospel Hall 810 Hwy 35, Burns Lake BC.
