Blaine was very compassionate, caring, multifaceted, multi-hyphenated, complicated, and spiritual. He believed in God as He was the foundation of his being.
He was a leader, an encourager, creative inspired writer and had a great sense of humor. He journaled, was a beautiful singer, deep thinker, and speaker, who prayed and meditated and was a passionate romantic just to name a few qualities. He approached everything he committed to with gusto and boisterous passion. He gave his all.
Blaine retired as a highly valued Captain for the Fire Department, City of San Jose, CA in 2000. According to Blaine, it was the best job in the world for him. He was able to use his skills as a leader, mentor, trainer, problem solver and most importantly being of service to his fellow firefighter’s family and the community where he served.
Blaine was a proud and respected member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity for 54 years since his initiation at San Jose State University in 1969.
Blaine was also deeply affiliated with a 12-step recovery program. He celebrated his 30 plus years in recovery by giving back to those who desired a better way to live free from addictions. He sponsored many, leading them through the principles that helped lead him to a life of freedom.
Blaine loved with his whole heart, and it came through in his service to others. Whatever the relationship, he gave all he had. He led with passion and love. He will certainly be missed.
