Please know that Tisa and I are saddened by the loss of “Doc.” I will miss his friendship and mentorship. An amazing spirit with a superb sense of humor, Doc, provided me with some of THE FUNNIEST moments of my adult life! I will continue to look back at our conversations and interactions and smile! Please know that we are sending prayers, blessings and healing energy. Let not your heart be troubled, energy is never destroyed merely transferred.
The year was 1965. I had just graduated from Lincoln University and was looking to start a new life on my own. Brother Billy knew of my situation and offered to rent me a room in his home in Philly. I of course took him up on his offer and lived with Billy for a year before being drafted in to the U.S. Army and sent overseas. Two years later I returned home to Philly and my good brother Billy had my room waiting for me. What a great Guy and true Brother! I will never forget this.
Billy Herman Floyd, my friend, my Brother in the bond (Kappa Alpha Psi), my mentor, a shinning light in my life. He will be missed but never forgotten. He loved music and had the great gift of an ability to sing a song with style. He was mischievous, loved to grab you from behind and put a wrestling lock on your neck. He also had a sensitive side and would do whatever it took to make others happy. It was truly a joy to be in his presence. He was witty, mischievous, always positive in spirit. Referred to himself as "The Chocolate Prince". When visiting other college campuses, Billy would lead the Kappa Brothers in singling. The girls loved his voice, his charisma and his witty personality. Some knew his other moniker, "the Chocolate Prince". He was truly loved loved and will be missed by all. -Jerome Fisher
