On the morning of October 22, 2023, at the age of 67, Bill Borrego passed away peacefully surrounded

by his family. He was born in Deming, New Mexico on August 28, 1956 to Julian and Loida Borrego. He

moved to Phoenix, AZ with his family when he was three years old and was the third of seven children.

He attended both Lowell and M.C. Cash elementary schools, where he enjoyed playing soccer. He

graduated from South Mountain High School in 1974 where he participated in hand ball and ran cross

country. During his junior year, he met his high school sweetheart, Linda, at the ages of fifteen and

sixteen years old. Bill and Linda dated throughout the remainder of their high school years, and were

married in April of 1975 with a ring from the gumball machine. He always said “I got lucky and got a

matching set, AND I only had to pay 50 cents.” During their marriage, they welcomed four children, and

10 grandchildren into their lives.

Bill worked in various careers throughout his life, including 30 years in the grocery industry, owning his

own lawn care and landscaping business, doing contract work for the Post Office, as well as buying and

selling classic car parts. His hobbies included cruising in his 1970 Chevelle SS and other classic vehicles

he owned, helping to create a Chevelle club with his friends and brothers, classic car restoration, going

to swap meets, antiquing, working in the yard, attending car shows, and watching random YouTube

videos. Bill collected EVERYTHING, but had a soft spot for hats, Hot Wheels, die cast cars, and Chevy

memorabilia. He loved to cheer on his kids and grandkids at school events, and supporting local sports

teams (Cardinals, Suns, Diamondbacks, Rattlers, Sun Devils, and also NASCAR). Visiting with family and

friends was one of his favorite things to do.

Bill is survived by his wife of 48.5 years, Linda; children Michelle and T.D., Chris and Dionne, Damon,

Bilinda and Jonathan; and his 10 grandkids, Tyler, Joey, Katie, Olivia, Alex, Aleyna (Sissy), Gracie, Sawyer,

Abby, and Hunter (Hunty). He will also be missed by his siblings, many nieces and nephews, extended

family, and friends.

Linda will miss hearing him ask her every day, “Remember when we were young…?” while listening to

songs, or thinking back on memories. The kids will miss hearing about his Savers or yard sale finds and

rolling their eyes when realizing something in his “inventory” became useful to them. The grandkids will

miss Pappa walking them all the way out to the car when leaving the house, and are hoping to finally

play with all of the cars he bought for them, but then changed his mind and decided to keep for himself.
