Bill's obituary
Bill “Willie” Lawrence Bardshar of Mount Hope, Kansas passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the age of 77 with his wife and daughters by his side. The world has lost a great son, brother, husband and father.
Bill was born on December 17, 1944 in Wichita, Kansas, preceded in death by his father Lawrence “Stuffy” Bardshar and mother Anne Matzek Bardshar and brothers Jim and Don “Squirt” Bardshar. He will be missed by his wife of 52 years, Janice and his daughters; Amy Voss (Kyle); Katie Link (Ronnie), granddaughter Taelyn Voss as well and numerous extended family members and friends. All held him in the highest regard and loved him dearly.
As the youngest brother, Bill learned to farm at an early age, played sports throughout school and participated in 4H. He was an animal lover, from nursing a raccoon back to health as a child to caring for many dogs and cats (some brought home by his daughters) that he enjoyed as pets. He held a special place in his heart for his girls, including his mom and was a gentle, kindhearted soul that would help anyone he met.
His curiosity for the way things worked followed him through college and his career. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pittsburg State University. For over three decades, he worked and retired from John Deere Industrial and finally retired from Murphy Tractor in 2011. He was such an integral part of the industry that he received requests for his technical expertise even after he retired.
During his tenure with John Deere, he was relocated with his family to Oklahoma, California and Colorado before returning to Mount Hope, Kansas in 1987, where Willie could truly focus on his passion of farming, working on and renovating cars before and after retirement. You could always find him in the garage or shed, tinkering away on something. He was like a kid in a candy store when it came to driving the combines and tractors while helping out on the family farm.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may made in Bill’s name to the Mt. Hope EMS. P.O. Box 382, Mt. Hope, Kansas, 67108.
