Beverly's obituary

Beverly Lucille White, affectionately known as Bev, was born to the late Willie Thornton and Alma Lee Underwood, on December 30, 1943.
Beverly married Joseph Louis White Sr. in February 1963. They shared 32 amazing years together until his death in January 1995.
Beverly and Joseph had an unbreakable bond, and raised four beautiful children together, who will deeply treasure her memory – three daughters, Denene Woodbury (Christopher) and Denise White; twins, Shannon N. Hollie (David) and one son, Joseph Louis White, Jr. (Shana).

Beverly truly showed she had a servant heart as a devoted wife and mother. She was humble with a deep sense of empathy, which made her a true pillar for others to trust and depend on. Her life was one that provided countless lessons of generosity, patience and resilience. Beverly loved to cook, revive plants, put puzzles together, journal, watch court shows (Judge Judy was her favorite) and drink Wawa coffee/tea. As a little-known secret she also had a beautiful singing voice. Foremost, Beverly always embodied being on the right side of integrity. This was demonstrated by her decision to dedicate her life to Jehovah by water baptism in September 1972. The love she had for Jehovah and teaching others about his kingdom was her true joy and life mission – it protected and guided every aspect of her life; providing the hope and strong faith she held onto.

In August 2010, Beverly moved to Dallas, TX with her son and daughter-in law for four years. During her time in Texas she made many loving friendships and memories which she spoke of fondly. As a native Virginian, Beverly moved back to Richmond in 2014 as she looked forward to spending time with her family.

Beverly had eight grandchildren, Morgan Elizabeth Jones-Woodbury, Madison-Leigh Woodbury, Taylor Woodbury, Toni Denise Anderson, Brooke Ariel Roberts, Ethan Pierce Hollie, Roman Vance Hollie, Elijah Drake White; and six great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by seven of her thirteen siblings, Florence Thompson, Sandra Benjamin, Iris Reed, Kathy Lambert, Jerry Thornton, Bryant Thornton and Yvonne Thornton. She also leaves to cherish her memory, two devoted sisters-in-law, Anne B. Lewis and Hattie White and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank
everyone for their love and support
during this difficult time.
We are so appreciative for the generosity and kindness shown
words cannot express the gratitude we feel
