Beverly's obituary
Beverly "Bev" Jane Moscatello (Derusha), aged 82, of La Verne, California, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side in the comfort of her home on March 6, 2024. Born on July 16, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan, Beverly was the cherished matriarch of her family, known for her compassionate heart and gentle humor.
Beverly was a devoted member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and took pride in her heritage. A lover of animals and a master of home-cooked meals, Beverly's kitchen was the heart of her home, where family and friends gathered for her renowned chicken and dumplings, snickerdoodles, and homemade rhubarb jam. Her love for card games, bowling and her active involvement in the Amvets reflected her zest for life and community spirit.
Beverly's memory will be lovingly remembered by her children, Troy Mantooth, Byron Mantooth and Vicky Mantooth; her sister, Barbara Derusha; her grandchildren, Rachel Mantooth, Amber Brady(Todd), Courtney Craft (Ronnie), Dalton Mantooth, Bronson Mantooth; and great-grandchildren, Oliver, Hannah, Katie, Julian, and Opal. Beverly's family circle expanded to include many additional children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren through her marriage to Ory, all of whom she deeply loved as her own.
Preceding Beverly in death were her husband, Oresto Moscatello; her daughter, Alieta Mantooth; her brother, Robert Derusha; and her parents, Jane McDonnell and Donald Derusha.
In accordance with Beverly's wishes, a private family service will be held to honor her life. She will be laid to rest following a cremation, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Beverly's kind spirit and enduring love for her family will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her. Her absence will be deeply felt, but the imprint of her life's joyful and loving moments will continue to inspire and comfort all of her family and friends.
