Bev's obituary
Beverly Lynn Kester-McGaughy, a beloved wife, mother, sister, niece, cousin, coach and friend, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2023 after a valiant battle with metastatic breast cancer. One in which she never gave up and endured the pain within herself without complaining. Bev died as she lived, fearlessly and courageously, always placing others before herself.
Bev, was born in Barberton, Ohio and graduated from Rittman High School in 1995. She attended Walsh University on scholarship where she excelled in Softball and Volleyball. Bev loved sports and later coached several Little League Softball teams as well as High School Softball and Volleyball.
Above all, her greatest accomplishments were the two loves of her life, her children; Ty Ellis and Dae Sun. Bev’s devotion to her children was unmatched. She took great pride in being a mother and was their biggest cheerleader, traveling thousands of miles to watch them compete in various sports.
Bev will be truly missed. Transcending the bonds of usual relationships, Bev was a beloved friend and coach who touched the lives of so many people with her generosity, support, and encouragement. Her trademark sense of humor and competitive spirit will never be forgotten.
Bev was preceded in death by her Father, Glenn H. Ullman and her Step-Father, James “Jim” Speegle.
Bev is loved and survived by her Mother, Sam Sun (Sunny) Speegle; Husband, Marlon McGaughy; her Children, Ty Ellis Kester and Dae Sun McGaughy, her Brothers, Danny L. Ullman and Jimmy Ullman all of Akron, Ohio and a legion of friends too numerous to name.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Noon with service starting at 1:30pm, Riverwood Chapel, 1407 Fairchild Ave, Kent, OH 44240, Pastor, Jeff Haynes.
