Betty's obituary
Betty Jean (Olsen) Vaughn, a cherished presence in our family, passed away peacefully at the home of her loving niece, Nettie Trevino, on April 16, 2025. Born on September 27, 1931, in Seattle, WA, to Melva and Adolph (Dutch) Olsen, Betty spent the majority of her 93 years in the Belfair and Allyn communities of Washington.
Aunt Betty was a vital part of our family, creating countless cherished memories that we will hold dear. Beyond family, Betty made many wonderful friends over the years. She possessed a spirited passion for antiquing, collecting and selling treasures of the past. Her enthusiasm was infectious, much like her laugh, which could bring joy to any room.
In her retirement years, Betty enjoyed spending her winter months traveling to sunny Arizona. She loved visiting flea markets and collecting obsidian, quartz, amethyst and more. This was a tradition she shared for many years with her sister Donna and her “later in life partner”, Keith Ellis.
The last chapter of Betty’s life was filled with numerous cherished family gatherings and visits from those who loved her dearly. She was surrounded by the comfort and love of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Donna, her brother Jerry, and her husband of many years, Chauncey Vaughn, along with numerous other beloved relatives.
Betty is survived by her son Todd and her daughter Tanya. Her legacy continues through her numerous nieces and nephew, their spouses, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Though she will be profoundly missed by both her family and her many dear friends, the impact of Betty’s life and love will forever remain in our hearts. We rejoice in knowing she has been welcomed into the loving embrace of her Savior and reunited with those who went before her.
Betty will be laid to rest beside her soul mate, Chauncey Vaughn at Island Lake Cemetery. A private gathering will be held in her honor.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Mason County Humane society.
