Betty Lee Saum, 101, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2022. She was born in March of 1920 in Baltimore, Maryland. After high school, she went on to study Geology at Hunter College in NYC. Betty Lee met Charles William Saum after graduation and they wed in 1942, going on to have two children, Andrew and Rebecca. She lived in small villages in Vermont and in New York. As a Methodist minister's wife, she was involved in church and community life in many roles. She often recounted the tasks involved in making home-made maple syrup, her art exhibition, a job sterilizing items in a small hospital, and her love of words, music, and reading, Betty Lee was predeceased by her husband, her brother Donald, and her sister Margaret, She is survived by her son and daughter, her granddaughter, great grandson , and her nephew and niece. Special thanks to friends and caregivers Sue, Helen, and Sandy. Betty Lee participated in weekly Zoom sessions supported by Water's Edge personnel. Throughout the last two years that provided a great connection with her son and their friend Terry, that brought lots of laughter and joy to her and those around her.
