Schedule:
12 Noon Light Lunch, Visiting
• Lunch will be a mix of sandwiches, pizza bites and salads with deviled eggs and housemade potato chips. Vegetarian and vegan options available.
• Desserts, sodas, coffee, decaf, hot chocolate and water provided.
12 PM - 1PM Creation of a Flower Mandala
• We will create a flower mandala altar in the middle of our sharing circle.
• You are welcome to bring something to place on the altar that reminds you of Betty (you can take it home) or something from your garden or nature. If you pick a part of a plant or flower please ask permission and thank it for us.
• We will also have flowers for all to participate if you do not bring something.
1:15 PM Program
• We will hold the program in a council circle way. This is in the spirit of Betty's value that everyone's voice mattered and her vision for an egalitarian world. After some opening offerings, there will be space for all attendees as we sit to share reflections around the circle, or you may pass.
• The program will be facilitated by family friends Natascha Bruckner and Zachiah Murray.
• A live cello song will open our circle, offered by Benedict Ventura who is studying at the University of Pacific.
3:15 PM Gathering Closing
Optional opportunity to drive out to parking alongside the fields and experience the Sandhill Crane fly in at sunset:
3:15 PM Depart and caravan to the Sandhill Crane Fly-In Viewing
• Location is ~30 minute drive to the north, near the Highway 12 and Highway 5 junction.
• Please see the attached program for an information sheet and driving directions to and map of the location. We will have printouts at the event as well.
• Park in the turnout noted on the map.
4:00 PM Arrive for Sandhill Crane Fly-In
• Our Docent Mamie Starr will have an informational table set up near the parking turnout noted on the map.
• We will park and walk on pavement and there are restrooms at the site.
• The cranes can likely be heard and viewed from your car if mobility is limited.
• Please wear comfortable and warm shoes and clothes. Bring binoculars and camera if you would like.
4:30 PM Docent talk about Sandhill Cranes and their migration.
5:15 PM Sunset and depart as you wish.
