Betty-Jo Argel, 54, of Groton beloved daughter and mother, passed unexpectedly at home on December 16, 2022. Born in Milford on March 25, 1968, she was the daughter of Linda May VanArsdale and Robert VanArsdale. Betty-Jo was a school bus driver for many years, where she loved to put smiles on the faces of the children along her route. She also had her CDL and drove tractor trailers all over making deliveries, she wasn’t afraid of hard work or getting her hands dirty. Unfortunately, forces beyond her control meant that she wasn’t able to continue driving buses or trucks like she loved. In turn she became a stay at home mom to her son Robert. Our fond memories include her love for music, including her passion for watching Prince videos. And come football season, you would find her cheering on her favorite team, the Giants. However, her greatest passion was video chats with her beloved granddaughters, Willow and Sawyer. They would spend hours laughing and singing. They brought each other great joy. BJ, as she's known by her closest family and friends, was proud of her children, a close confidant to friends in need. No matter what was asked, people could come to her for support. In her special way, she was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is survived by her parents, Linda May VanArsdale and Robert VanArsdale and his wife Michele, her brother Robert VanArsdale, two children, Carissa-Lynn Ford and her husband Mason of Oakville and Robert William Rodriguez, loving partner Bobby Rodriguez, two loving granddaughters, Willow and Sawyer Ford. The family is holding a private service at this time. A public celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to a drug rehabilitation facility in BJ’s honor.
