Betty's obituary

Betty Jean (Grant) Campbell was the second daughter of the late Lurlie Mae Gideon Grant and the late Earl Grant. She was born in Washington, D.C. on May 18, 1943.

Betty attended Boston Conservatory where she majored in dance. She graduated from University of District of Columbia with a degree in early childhood education. She taught pre-kindergarten and kindergarten over 30 years in Washington, D.C. public schools including Ruth K. Webb Elementary and Bancroft Elementary before retiring in 2008.

In 1969, Betty and (the late) William Campbell were united in marriage for 28 years. They married at Vermont Avenue Baptist Church, where Betty regularly attended services throughout her adult life.

Betty later joined Fort Washington Christian Church where she remained a faithful member. She stayed active throughout her life and enjoyed line dancing, traveling, shopping, thrill rides and spending time with family and friends.

She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Ms. Monique Keith, Spring, TX and Mrs. Ardandia Campbell-Williams, Damascus, MD; seven grandchildren Taylor, Taryn, Alyssa, Justin, Riley, Sammy and Christian Keith; three great-grandchildren Killian and Kieran Millar, and Ari Ledezma; one sister, Earlene Thornton, Las Vegas, NV; one daughter-in-law, Davina Campbell-Williams, Damascus, MD; a host of nieces; nephews; and other relatives and many friends.
